I’m an artist who captures the essence and spirit of the characters of people and animals through drawings and paintings. I mainly use graphite or coloured pencils in my work to create a piece of work where memories can be held forever.
I studied Art at A Level and continued on to study Art alongside my BA(ed). Following this time I didn’t practice my Art at all until 2009 (with exception to drawings for my children, little presents for family or the odd carnival!). My current job as an Art teacher prompted me to dust off my tools and practise what I preached!! I found it empowering, liberating and an invaluable teaching tool. I have been able to share my Art with my pupils and therefore can show them what they can achieve using certain techniques and skills. Although I am an Art teacher I am always learning and improving my techniques and skills, which in turn improve my artwork further.
I absolutely love drawing to try to achieve realism. I use graphite or coloured pencils, my favourite being Caran d’Ache at the time of writing. I draw many things but animals and portraits are my favourite and luckily I have received many commissions for drawings of dogs and people.
